The getaway Wolf and red deer rut brings together two of the most thrilling wildlife spectacles in a single experience. Over several days, we’ll explore some of the finest spots in the Cantabrian Range to observe and photograph the iberian wolf in the wild – an iconic species whose behaviour makes every sighting a unique moment.
Coinciding with autumn, we’ll also witness the spectacular red deer rut, one of the most intense times of the year in the mountains, when the large stags compete to form their harems amidst bellowing, displays and confrontations. A getaway designed for nature photographers who wish to capture unique behaviours against a backdrop of stunning natural beauty.

Recommendations
It is recommended to use a telephoto lens of between 400 and 600 mm, or an equivalent zoom lens (100–500 mm, 150–600 mm or 200–600 mm), which is ideal for photographing wild mammals whilst always maintaining a respectful distance.
It is also advisable to bring a second camera body with a shorter lens for landscape photography or environmental shots, as well as spare batteries, sufficient memory cards and a tripod or monopod for wildlife viewing sessions. As many sessions will take place at dawn and dusk, a camera that performs well in low-light conditions will make all the difference.
The excursions will take place in mountainous and woodland settings during the autumn, so we recommend wearing comfortable technical clothing, dressing in layers and bringing warm clothing for the early morning and late evening.
It is essential to wear hiking boots with good grip, a waterproof and windproof jacket, and a comfortable rucksack to carry your camera equipment. Wearing muted, inconspicuous colours will help ensure you observe the wildlife with respect.

Furthermore, during our field days we’ll be able to observe other species native to the Cantabrian Range, such as roe deer, foxes, chamois and various birds of prey and woodland birds.
