Situated in the ecotone between the tamarisk fringe and the reedbed, this hide is located near the sluice gates used to regulate water levels in the wetland. The floating structure remains at water level at all times, allowing some waterfowl and grebes to use the area around the hide. At the end of the summer season, it attracts countless migratory birds.

Spring: from April onwards, Common Reed Warblers, Western Yellow Wagtails and summer birds begin to arrive in increasing numbers. The number and diversity of species continue to grow until summer. In July, Sedge Warblers may begin to arrive during their migration.
Autumn migration: although bird numbers at El Taray are heavily influenced by the flood levels in La Mancha Húmeda, this is a fascinating place to visit at this time of year. Many birds stop at El Taray during their migration to complete their post-breeding moult, acquiring very striking plumage in bright colours. In some seasons, up to 28 different species have been recorded during this part of the year.
