Other hides at El Taray Lagoon
This hide is situated on a small island amidst the reeds, on the edge of the main lagoon. The abundance of reeds in the surrounding area attracts Western Marsh Harrier, which nest there, making it possible to spot numerous individuals; in some summers, as many as eight different birds have been counted visiting the perches.
Western Marsh Harriers are present throughout the year and, from this hide, it is possible to photograph several males, including those with melanic or very pale plumage.
During winter, when the water level drops, foxes can reach the island and it is possible to observe interactions between them and the birds of prey.
The background consists of tall reeds, which offer green hues in summer and yellowish tones in winter.
