The hide is situated in a vast floodplain with sparse, low-density vegetation, adapted to saline soils and known as ‘albardinal’ (a priority habitat under the European Habitats Directive). It is an important area for dispersal and hunting for many species of birds of prey, such as the Hen Harrier, the Bonelli’s Eagle and the Short-toed Snake Eeagle. For some years now, there has been a continuous presence of the Spanish Imperial Eagle.
